I am sitting in my dorm room taking a break after staying up for most the night writing, editing and making changes to a collection of midterm essays for one of my political science classes and this song came on. Neon Lights by Natasha Bedingfield. I have a couple of songs by her. A couple of her famous songs (Pocketful of Sunshine) and some that may not be so famous yet (such as Neon Lights). If you are looking for an artist that always deliveries songs that will make you smile and always seem to brighten your day I would look no father than Natasha Bedingfield. She has a voice that has a great tone and you can feel her emotions through the way she sings. Her pours herself into her songs and while many of her songs can be seen as being similar I do not see this as a minus. Why mess with something that works and this type of upbeat, authentic music definitely works for her. I know that many young adults and professionals like to illegally download music but I believe that buying her most recent album called Strip Me will not be a waste of anyones money. Feel free to tell me about what you are listening to and what songs you think should get a listen to. I always love listening to new music.

Dying Her Hair
It is a Wednesday night and my roommate Ashley has asked me to dye her hair. Have I ever dyed hair you ask? No. I have not. My hair could not handle getting dyed. Ashley dyed her hair last year and it was so dark. But her hair now has a little bit of blond on the ends due to the amount of sun she got this summer. Ashley is now telling me to “Get it done! Do work!!” I will be back to tell you how it went, maybe even add some photos….
Ok so it hasn’t been going well. April (the twin) said that I had done ok but she went and fixed the parts that I did not get. Ashley was nice about it but I think April did a better job. Ashley said I did “good”. She would be lost without me!!!
Late Night: Baked and Wired
Tonight I went to a kind of place I had never been before. A bakery in Georgetown called Baked and Wired. Baked and Wired is a cute little place that sells coffee, cupcakes and other pastries but the cupcakes are all front and center. Many people when they think of Washington, DC and cupcakes immediately think of the show on TLC called “DC Cupcakes” which features another cupcakes store in called Georgetown Cupcakes. While I am sure that it is a great place to get cupcakes I would highly recommend Baked and Wired. I’ll start out with the location: it is located right off K Street on Thomas Jefferson St and has a parking garage right near by (a little expensive) but it also has street parking. It is just a short walk away from M St. which is close enough for you to walk and enjoy all the shops that Georgetown has to offer but far enough that noise level isn’t distracting. I started off with a Chi Tea which was made by a girl with dreads and some kick ass piercings. I tried it and it was amazing, best I have ever had. I then went to get my cupcake. They have them all lined up so you can actually see what they look like and the names are amazing. I loved the cupcake and the Chi Tea was to die for. I will be going back and you should go try it out.
US Postal Service
So today I will be doing something that I bet only about half of you do now: I am going to go to a post office and mail a letter. Ahhh yes the good old US Postal Service will be getting my attention today. Mind you it is just some bills and a job application but still. Not exciting stuff I know but I love sending mail and getting mail. As a college student getting mail from anyone is the best thing in the world. You better believe I bragged to my roommate and friends when I got a piece of mail. One of my friends Pam is actually from the area around my college so she doesn’t get mail that often. She and I had promised my brother that we would write to him but we never got around to it (this semester, i promise bro.)
I love writing. I was always good at english but when I got to college I decided that being an english major just wasn’t for me hence why I ended up a business and now a political science major. Technology has made it easy for us to communicate so people do not go back to writing handwritten letter. In my opinion handwritten letters are better than any email I ever got.
Best times are when it is finals time and I will tell you why in 2 words: care packages. Care packages are the best things ever!! Especially they way my parents pack them. There are always healthy things but also a little chocolate which is the bomb.
So to all you kids out there who are bored over this summer consider sending a letter to your best friend, a pen pal, or family members who you don’t get to see often. Getting letters are always fun! 🙂
Water
Sitting at my desk, just got to work and whats the first thing I do….get water. I love water. Soda is fun once and awhile, and since I don’t drink coffee sometimes I drink it for the caffeine. However, nothing can beat water. I mean its quenches your thirst more then any other drink. I use to play basketball and I would only drink water during practices and usually games as well (with the odd Gatorade during games.) Water makes me feel better, makes me work harder, and makes me healthier. All around it is great. So today do me a favor, at lunch instead of ordering a soda get some water instead.
HOT!!
I am at work and it is so hot I might just faint. I do only have about 30 minutes left but honestly AC PLEASE!!! I am wearing a dress and that is still not working. The dress is a little heavy but it is just past my knees and short sleeved so it shouldn’t be this hot. Not when I am drinking cold water like its my job! I am sitting her listening to Jessie J and my boss is blasting classic rock. My face is about to melt off. However, on another note I am trying to decide if I want to ask this guy out. I mean he is cute, funny, interesting, a jock, and actually enjoys english class. Which is always appreciated in my mind. But I mean why would he say yes? I would bet money he has never gone out with a plus-size girl. So any advice on how I should do it, when I should do it, and if I should do it would be much appreciated.
PS. Its suppose to get to a 100 in the next couple of days. Stay inside and stay cool.
